The Queen of the Heavens

The Queen of the Heavens

Moon and Venus

Myth informs us of the experiences of the Soul, just as History informs us of the workings of the material world.

On the evening of May 18th the Crescent Moon (Mén-zu) and Venus (Queen of the Heavens) are conjunct. This is the second of a series of such conjunctions over seven months, through October 11th.

Archetypal psychologists and astrologists have interpreted these seven conjunctions as being representative of an inner journey of the release of attachments to toxic emotions, and the reintegration of the various aspects of consciousness that correspond to the seven chakras. They are not wrong in that.

However, our Shamanic Ways do not psychologize, we mythologize. That is, we seek to empower our Soul’s experiences and expressions in a manner that does not rely on the need to analyze and interpret, but rather to embrace the significance and value of our Soul’s journey. The relevant distinction is that, while in the psychological method, one seeks to analyze and interpret one’s experiences to derive meaning from the event, in the Shamanic approach we openly embrace the mythic dance of the Soul, embodying the movements of the Soul as the fulfillment of the Soul’s desire in expression. Thus, by embodying the Mythos, our lives – and the events of our lives – become mythic in nature, filled with synchronicities, significance, and value. We become Mythic beings walking in the Mundane world!

Ceremony as the Gateway to the Soul

All authentic Shamanic Ceremonials are the dramatic enactment of the Mythos inherent within Cosmological phenomena.

There are seven conjunctions of the Crescent Moon and Venus in the western evening sky over the course of the 260-day presence of Venus as the Evening Star.

When applying the archetypal psychology methodology during an Evening Star Venus cycle, upon completion one returns to the world with a deeper understanding and ability to cope with one’s inner struggles, and hopefully even some changes wrought. When journeying into the Underworld Realm of the Soul, utilizing each Moon/Venus conjunction as a guide, like tuning forks activating the bell-gongs of our Soul, we do not analyze our perceived experiences but rather experience the IS-ness of all the Power (ie, life force, or emotional charges) to be found within, enabling us to recapitulate, transmute, and reclaim the Power contained within each memory, event, or issue. We then return to the world healed, whole, and empowered.

What the activation of each Moon/Venus conjunction provides in one’s life is a direct and experiential Knowingness of one’s Soul’s purpose in life, and the empowerments earned through having embraced and embodied the Is-ness during our journey through the seven engagements of the Moon/Venus conjunctions, to realign our path with our original and authentic Soul’s Path.

Chthonic vs Archonic

Venus and the Crescent Moon align at 0º Cancer

Both our Soul and its companion that we call Consciousness are Chthonic.

We recognize Venus as being the embodiment of our Soul’s essence. It is Feminine (not female!) in nature. The Moon we perceive as being the embodiment of our Masculine (not male!) Consciousness. They are companions, though rarely met, which makes their Sacred Union all that much more significant an event.

NOTE: I know that in the popular Western astrological and archetypal systems prevalent today that the Moon is considered to be feminine. Shamanism carries forth the relationship with the Moon in its expression prior to Hellenic interpretations. It is not that one is right and the other incorrect. They are simply different mythic representations. I do not present a Western archetypal system, I am a Voice of the Shamanic. It’s ok… we can coexist!

The Shadow side of our pure essence of Soul is our emotionally suppressed body, wherein we store our anger, resentments, fears, and the like. Unrepressed emotions do not build up in the Soul, but are dynamically expressed in a wholesome manner, and sustain our happiness, vitality, dignity, and joy.

The Shadow side of our Consciousness is the Archon that usurps our Mind, insinuating its judgments, anxieties, and fears into our thoughts. It is that which is the ‘me’ in our self-referential thoughts. Pure Consciousness is aware. The Archon makes demands, analyzes, and judges every perception of Consciousness. Simply stated, pure Consciousness is inspirational. The Shadow/Archon is argumentive and judgmental.

Archons are incapable of entering the Chthonic Realms (the Realm of the Underworld). This factor is significant in distinguishing between a psychological investigation of the Crescent Moon/Venus archetypes, and the mythological engagement of the mythic embodiments of the Moon and Venus in the Chthonic reality. When employing the psychological investigational approach, the danger, so often unrecognized, is that it is the Archon that is running the show, distracting with correlations, interpretations, and emotionally embedded reactions.

The Moon, mythically, is the lens through which the Spirit/Sun disperses its Light into the Darkness. When we enter the Chthonic Realms through Shamanic journeying, rather than analyzing from the known field of the Archonic Mind, Awareness is free in its expression of its experience. There is no stifling of direct experience of the Is-ness by Archonic forces when we actually enter and engage the Mythos of the Underworld.

The Chthonic Beings of the Journey

In the Mythos, one thing does not represent another. They are one and the same thing.

The Sun does not represent Spirit. It is Spirit, yours, mine, ours, individually and collectively. The Moon is the lens for the light of Spirit/Sun shining into the Darkness. The Moon does not represent the masculine expression of inspiration. The Moon is the masculine principle of Inspiration itself. Likewise, Venus does not represent the feminine principles of our Soul. Venus is the very embodiment of our Soul’s feminine principles.

In the mythic storyline of this cosmological event of the Crescent Moon and Venus conjoining in Sacred Union throughout their seven meetings, the primary characters are:

+ Mén-zu – the Crescent Moon. His essence is that of Consciousness, whether embodied consciousness, the subconscious, or the super-conscious. His quality is that of Inspiration.

+ The Queen of the HeavensVenus. Her essence is that of the Soul. Her quality is that of Purity.

+ The Dispeller of Darkness – the Sun. Neither masculine nor feminine, and not androgynous. It is inclusive and transcendent of, and is not defined by, the masculine and feminine. Its essence is Spirit.

+ The Archon – the Usurper. When the Archon has usurped Consciousness, it is experienced as a controlling and judgmental Mind that proclaims “I Am the All-That-Is!”. When the Archon imposes itself upon the Soul, we experience the deepest depths of our feelings as being contaminated with fear, anxiety, arrogance, bitterness, judgment, and other negative and toxic emotional states. The Archon does not, cannot, cloak or overlay itself upon Spirit, as Spirit is pure, unsullied, unsulliable, and eternal.

The nature of the Archon is divined by whichever planet(s) in one’s natal astrological chart are in disharmonious relationship to the specific month’s position of Venus and/or the Moon.
