Visiting in Costa Rica at Jade’s House

Visiting in Costa Rica at Jade’s House

Now – April 1

I will once again be spending the winter months in the embrace of my Beloved, el Caribé Sur… the southern Caribbean coast of Costa Rica. I have secured the rental of the same house I was in last year, Casa Luna (Yay!). Houses are named here, as there are no street addresses. It sits just 52 steps from the beach. A short stroll brings you to tide pools, which are like swimming holes protected from the surf by coral reefs. Nearby are also to be found beaches for lazing upon, surfing sites, snorkeling, and swimming beaches… it has it all. Literally behind my back yard is the Jaguar Rescue Center. They offer tours through their facility to view the animals they bring in for rehabilitation and a return, where possible, to the wild jungles.

A short walk in either direction of my house are restaurants for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A 10-minute tuk-tuk taxi ride into the main town of Puerto Viejo will avail you of fine dining (fresh seafood, vegan, Argentinian steak houses, Asian Fusion, exquisite Italian dining, or just a pizza… whatever you want, it is there)  cozy juice bars, and coffee shops.

While here you can catch transport to Fortuna, the place of hot springs at the base of the Arenal volcano. Or maybe you’d prefer whitewater rafting, zip lining, jungle walks, or surfing lessons. Again… what you want, they got it here.

You can rent a hostelesque room for $60 a night or a villa for $250 a night. Or…

I am making my second bedroom available to visitors for $100 a night with a 3-night minimum, 7-night maximum, stay. Your room is private and has windows that open to the sea breezes, yet are screened in to prevent mosquitoes from entering. The bathroom is shared. The property is secure, with locks on the doors as well as the front gate that admits entrance into a fenced/hedged yard shared with the three other apartments in Casa Luna.  I have the absolute BEST neighbors! The front yard has a wonderful open-sided, thatched roof portico (think gazebo) to sit under to get out of the sun or the rain. And, as an added bonus… I prepare a lot of my meals at home. You are welcome, though not required, to dine with me. My home-cooked meals and general hanging-out-with-Jade time are free of any additional fee. You are a guest in my home. I make a fine cup of coffee, BTW!

All the above for just $100 a night!

Should you be interested in taking me up on this offer I will email you a ‘Costa Rica Travel Tips’ list that I have put together. It lets you know just how to get to Punta Cocles (where I live), how to exchange currencies, a link to the expected weather of any given week, and so much more. Then, you decide which dates you want to book, and check with me that those are available. Payment in full secures your dates.
